Dylan Loh, a young internet entrepreneur from Singapore, is the latest individual to jump on the affiliate marketing bandwagon. He has produced an ebook, "The Clickbank Profit Machine", which is supposedly designed to turn instant profits for newcomers to internet marketing.
The tagline to the book is typically seductive "See sales streaming in within 24 hours", so I've given it a read to see if it's another hyped-up book that under delivers, or whether it actually measures up to its claims.
The short book (around 40 large font pages) starts off with Loh's own rags-to-riches story which, I guess, is meant to stick the potential marketer in a warmed-up state of mind. Given the relative crudity of his sales site, I can well believe he's not a gurubut this is no bad thing. In my experience, it tends to be the gurus who over deliver on promises and sell you short on practical content.
The gist of Loh's strategy is a simple and unoriginal: combine Clickbank affiliate programming with Google Adwords. To put that in layman's terms, it means selecting a digital product (e.g. an ebook) that is for sale, promoting that product through advertising on Google, and taking a typical commission of some 50% of each sale you are responsible for.
Loh starts off by giving us some advice on how to pick a profitable product on Clickbank. Also included are some free traffic-driving techniques, his own "super tip" and a bonus chapter that reveals a not-so-very-exclusive secret.
The meat of the ebook is providing simple Adwords strategies that can be easily applied in order to drive visitors to the merchant's sales page. It is basic but efficient stuff, and would do well in most cases. In many ways, this is the appeal of Loh's ebook; I am an experienced marketer, so roll my eyes a little when I read established knowledgebut if I put myself in the mindset of a newcomer, then this simple, accessible, two-pronged strategy is actually very nicely conveyed.
Summing up, there is absolutely nothing wrong with "The Clickbank Profit Machine". It is a simple and straightforward guide that anybody could pick up and put to use. The material will be old hat to experienced internet marketers, but it should provide a good way for newcomers to online money-making to get started. |
