Sea Level and Peak Performance World Records

Many world records in the Olympics and other sporting events happen at sea level. This is because there is more oxygen at sea level and it is easier to maintain peak performances. It gives an advantage to the human body.

Having been a track star in my past in California I had always competed and trained at sea level. The weather was good all year round and so I trained all year round and my body became super conditioned in agility, endurance and runners muscle group building.

I was always amazed at the runners who would come from places like Colorado who would train at a mile above sea level and when they came down to Los Angeles to compete in the Los Angeles invitational and other world track meets they would post exceptionally good times and always have their personal best. Generally they could not beat me, but they came too close for comfort way too many times.

It appears that the ability to train at sea level all year around and with the better oxygen supply that the runners develop stronger bodies and have a significant advantage. Likewise the runners who train at very high altitudes come down to where the auction is good and concentrated and they just really rip. They literally blow everyone away and are always posting some of the very best times.

Therefore, if you want to hold an invitational track meet and have world records broken and it makes sense to have a track meet where the temperature is 70 and the oxygen content is very high and that would be at sea level. I hope you will consider this in 2006.
